Standardization and Innovation Conceptual Framework of Defense Industry in Indonesia

Abstract

The development of industry and technology makes the role of standardization increasingly important for every country. Standards are part of the strategy of industrial development. Industry standards can provide benefits by creating regularity and efficiency in the industry. This research aims to develop the standardization of the existing defense industry in Indonesia in some of the defense and security equipment (Alpalhankam) by looking at the existing standardization model in the world as a reference. Based on the results of research obtained, the innovation stage of the defense industry in Indonesia consists of two models of innovation stages, which are the general stage model and the special stage model. In the general stage model, the innovation stage consists of R & D, prototype, technology and defense industry development (Bangtekindhan), and commercialization and after-sales. While in the special stage model, the innovation stage consists of R & D, technology and defense industry development (Bangtekindhan), commercialization and after-sales. In addition, it was also obtained that at each stage of innovation implemented by the defense industry, especially in the R & D stage, the construction of prototypes and Bangtekindhan can get funding assistance through funding schemes contained in the technology and defense industry potential development (Binpotekindhan) program organized by the Ministry of Defense.
